I own Metastock and don’t use as much as I used to use in the past but is a solid piece of software. The only issue is that compared to their competitors they look like they have stopped updating the product — the version 10 for example is not very different from
the previous versions, with the exception of a couple new systems and indicators (which they want to sell you)… again, great solid product if coupled with eSignal or their Reuters QuoteCenter feed.
Dear valued client:
In order to continue giving clients the best possible software and data experience, it is sometimes necessary to discontinue product support of older versions of MetaStock. For this purpose, as of December 31, 2007, we will no longer be providing product support for MetaStock versions 8.0 and 9.0. Note: versions 9.1 and above will not be affected by this change.
Please review the following frequently asked questions to better understand the end-of-life cycle, how it will affect you, and what options are available:Who will be affected by this change?

I have received a number of emails asking which charting tools I currently use, so here it is:
Bigcharts retrieved by a custom tool I’ve built (yes, I’m a nerd)!
QuoteTracker - this program costs about $8 US for month and it’s excellent! I use IB as real-time data feed
Amibroker - also and excellent charting program, mostly focused on backtesting
I have tried pretty much every program out there including Tradestation, Ensign, Metastock, Sierra and decided to focus on the 3 tools above — it’s all about keeping it low cost and SIMPLE!
I’ve been also asked why I use OHLC charts instead of Candlesticks — that’s just a personal preference, I find it easier to visualize the patterns.
